LA LOUISIANE Table Française & Concert
Be there for the return of LA LOUISIANE, a collaboration between L’Union Française and Beanlandia, home of the Krewe of Red Beans. Beanlandia (3300 Royal St. in New Orleans) is a dancehall, art space, and creativity factory for makers of Mardi Gras mirth. On April 4th and May 23rd, L’Union Française will be hosting a Table Française (open, casual, no-pressure French conversation rendez-vous with fellow learners and fluent speakers alike) at 5PM as a prelude to a live Cajun, Zydeco, or otherwise French/Creole-focused musical act at 6PM.

May 23rd: 5PM Table Française | 6PM Les Amis du Têche (Lafayette/New Orleans-based woman-fronted powerhouse supergroup)

Café & Croissants
As part of the New Orleans French Film Festival, come to L’Union Française (4522 Prytania St.) 10:30AM-12:00PM for a pastries-and-coffee pregame to the 4th day of festivities. In keeping with our annual tradition of sponsoring a film in the festival, we have chosen Partir un jour (Leave One Day) which will be shown at 12:15PM at our neighbor down the street, Prytania Theatre Uptown (5339 Prytania St.). Enjoy refreshments and fun with fellow franco-film-philes then walk or ride down to enjoy the movie! Pastries will be provided by Celtica Bakery and coffee by Petite Rouge Café Camionette.

Join fellow lovers of local culture at L’Union Française for a special evening of language and music and cultural exchange. In conjunction with the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, we are welcoming musicians from Brittany to our famous Cajun Jam for a very special evening. Starting at 4PM, we will host a reception for our guests from France. Then from 5PM-6PM, we are hosting a Table Française (free-form conversation gathering for people wishing to practice their French) where we will share phrases in Kouri-Vini and Cajun French with our visitors while they share some of their own Breton. From 6M-8PM, our local musicians will play with our Breton visitors. This event is open to community members and any musicians who wish sit in. Every year, L’Union Française is proud to be a sponsor of the annual French Film Festival, which celebrates new cinematic releases from all over the French-speaking world.
This year, our sponsored film is The Jolly Forgers (La Fiancée du poète), which shows at 11:45AM at Prytania Theatre on March 15. We’ll be doing our traditional Café & Croissants gathering from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM that morning at our home, 4522 Prytania St.. We will have gourmet café from Petite Rouge, croissants from Celtica, and live music by Pepper 'n Michot.

This two-part class (Oct. 18 and Oct. 25) is a bilingual journey through the nuances and history of French wine as well as a wine tasting. Tickets are limited and one ticket gets you admission to BOTH classes, which will each offer unique wines and wine knowledge.
